Composted Irony

As seen on the shelf at my favorite thrift store.  I suppose I should have brought it home to see how the cultures developed, but I decided to let someone else have that particular pleasure.

Update:  Three weeks after this photo was taken, the book is still there.  Won't someone give it a little love?

A Craiglist Bargain Typewriter

Quick!  Someone grab this $100 bargain machine before it goes on ebay!  It has a unique wide carriage, glass top keys and the oxidation is thrown in at no extra charge.  Writing the next Great American Novel?  This can be your muse!

I just returned from an extremely busy conference week in Chicago.  I have many new photos on the camera that need to be imported and was contemplating my next entry.  Finding this gem just made my life easier.  The Amazing $100 Typewriter

Princess Doesn't Live Here Anymore (A Bummer Typecast)

My wife and I were out for a walk around the neighborhood and encountered a sorry sight by the curb.  This would fall in the "abandoned" category.
Typed on the Hermes Media 3

I felt sorry for this stuffed animal.
This little bear is the saddest thing I've seen in a long time.  She was face down in the gutter, but I thought she deserved to see the sun before her long journey to the landfill.  Our neighborhood is prowled by Jawas, so there is always a slim chance that someone picked up Anabelle and took her home.

Abandoned Analog

In the last week I have witnessed two separate instances of analog technology abandonment.  I suspect the perpetrators were hoping that someone would adopt their unwanted analog.  One pile of video tapes was around the corner from a row of dumpsters.  The box of albums was on a street corner planter.

Maybe putting up a sign that said "Free!" or "Please Take!" might have helped.  As it was, all but the most dedicated scrounger would wonder whether he or she were part of a stupid human video.

There are four dumpsters on the other side of that fence.
Remember VHS tapes?  I saw a Betamax player at a thrift shop recently.  Technology marches on.
How cryptic.
I like Flip Wilson.  However, I did not trust objects left in a random box on a street corner.
